Accessibility

Effective October 15, 2026.

We want everyone to be able to use Before Day One. Here is what we have built in, and what to do if something is in your way.

What is built in

• Every lesson is written out in full, so nothing depends on video or audio.
• Any video we add will have captions before it goes live.
• The site works with a keyboard alone, with visible focus marks and a "skip to main content" link.
• Text is large by default, uses a font designed for easy reading, and scales when you zoom or change your browser's text size. Dark text on light backgrounds is used throughout.
• Forms have clear labels, and messages are announced to screen readers.
• Nothing is timed, and nothing moves on its own. Animation is switched off if your device asks for less motion.
• Signing in uses an emailed code, so there is no password to remember.

Testing

We check the pages with automated accessibility tools and with keyboard-only use. Testing like this does not catch everything, so please tell us if you find a problem.
