Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026.
Before Day One (beforeday1.com and civility.work) is a free program run by Peak Employment Solutions, 308 Eighth Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect and what we do with it. Questions: team@peaktcs.com.
What we collect
You can read all of the lessons and the Civility@Work guide without giving us anything. If you sign in to save your progress and get a certificate, we keep:
- your email address, and the first and last name you give us;
- which of the ten lessons you marked finished, and whether you ticked your action plan;
- your certificate (the name printed on it, the date, and its code), if you earn one;
- the date you sent your certificate to Peak, if you chose to.
We do not collect what you think or write during the "Your turn" questions or your action plan. The Six Unmeasurables self-check works the same way: your answers are saved only in your own browser, on your own device. They are never sent to us, and you can clear them any time with the "Clear my answers" button.
There are no boxes on this site for you to type those answers into. We do not use advertising, tracking cookies, or analytics on this site.
Sign-in codes and your browser
We email you a six-digit code when you sign in. It works once and expires in 15 minutes. After you sign in, your browser keeps a sign-in token so you stay signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. We keep short-lived technical records, such as one-way scrambled versions of your email and internet address, to stop people from guessing codes or flooding the site.
Sending your certificate to Peak (optional)
After you earn a certificate you may choose to send it to Peak. Only if you tick the box and press the button, we email Peak's team (team@peaktcs.com and mike@peaktcs.com) your name, email, certificate details, and the phone number and note if you add them. Peak may also add this to its own records, such as its applicant system. Nothing is sent to Peak unless you do this. Sending it is not a job application. To apply, use Peak's pre-application.
Once Peak has received it, that copy is part of Peak's own records, and deleting your Before Day One account does not remove it. To ask Peak about that copy, email team@peaktcs.com.
Who else handles your information
We use Google Firebase to host the site and store your information, and Resend to send emails. They process information for us and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell your information.
Checking a certificate
Anyone who has your certificate code can check it on the verification page. It shows only the name printed on the certificate, the date, and the program. It does not show your email, your phone number, or your progress.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account and certificate until you delete them. You can delete everything at any time: sign in and press "Delete my data" at the top of the course or certificate page. That removes your account, your progress, and your certificate, and the certificate code stops verifying. If you cannot do this yourself, email team@peaktcs.com and we will do it for you.
Children
Before Day One is for people looking for work. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new date.
